Job Description Summary

Provide health care services, including first aid, nursing care for illnesses and injuries occurring on campus, emergency preparedness, and special services to the mentally and physically disabled, health education and health promotion programs and a referral service for further health care for students, staff and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of Maryland.
  2. Completed and passed a course in medication calculation and administration.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  4. A minimum of two years full-time or equated experience in the professional area.
  5. Must have supervised a minimum of two years.
Criteria

CRITERIA: The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed.   1. Extent of the ability to work with students, faculty and staff.
  2. Extent of experience in a public health setting.
  3. Extent of the ability to work flexible hours.
  4. Extent of experience in a community college health setting.
  5. Extent of medical-surgical experience.
  6. Extent of background in assisting in preventive health programs.
  7. Evidence of completing and passing of an accredited 2 year or more nursing program.
  8. Evidence of setting for and passing the National Council Licensure Examination.
  9. Extent of education beyond the RN
Job Requirements
  1. Must be available to work Monday – Friday during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and limited Saturdays. Work schedule subject to change based on the needs of the department.
  2. Proof of immunity to communicable diseases such as hepatitis B, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), varicella, polio and/or Td/Tdap.
  3. Yearly TB skin test required.
  4. Minimum 5 years in ambulatory setting or college health center preferred.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  6. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
