Job Description Summary

The Supervisor, Electrical/Maintenance is responsible for planning, scheduling and participating in the electrical installation and maintenance of campus electrical systems to include but not limited to high voltage shutdowns and inspections of switch gear.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Licensed Master Electrician in Prince George’s County;
  2. One to two years of college credit (30 credit hours is equivalent to one year) or equivalent formal training in related field.
  3. Combination of related experience for a total of four to five years full-time or part-time equivalent experience as a master electrician;
  4. Three (3) years supervisory experience preferred.

  1. General knowledge of OSHA regulations and practices, methods, materials and equipment in the electrical construction.
  2. Extent of experience working with medium and high voltage service and components.
  3. Extent of experience working from electrical diagrams and blueprints.
  4. Extent of experience in estimating cost for time and materials.
  5. Extent of knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the electrical trade.
  6. Extent of knowledge of local and national electrical codes and standards.
  7. Extent of knowledge of the hazards of the trade as well as appropriate safety precautions to be observed.
  8. Extent of experience supervising other electricians.
Job Requirements
  1. Must be able to work Monday – Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Work schedule is subject to change based on department needs.
  2. Valid driver’s license without any restrictions that would prohibit applicant from college insurance coverage.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  4. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  5. A limited background investigation will be conducted prior to offer of employment. A signed authorization for release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
