Job Description Summary

Under supervision of the chief of staff in the Office of the President and the college president, to provide leadership and management for governmental affairs for local, state, and federal governments and institutional compliance for all laws and regulations that affect the operations of the college.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree, applicable to advancement and planning, continuing education and evening programs, instruction, student services.
  2. Three years, full-time or equated experience in the professional area. Vice presidents shall determine equivalence for experience.
  3. Must have supervised personnel and administered programs directly related to professional area for at least three years.
Criteria

CRITERIA: The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process. Resume/CV and cover letter are required with the application.   1. Expert communications skills. Experienced in community and government affairs and public relations.
  2. Evidence of ability to organize and schedule complex activities/logistics and to multi-task.
  3. Evidence of ability to clearly and effectively present ideas in meetings and compose and deliver oral presentations.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency with technology, specifically, the Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Extent of knowledge and familiarity with traditional and technology-based research and utilizing data to support legislative reports.
  6. Evidence of ability to work independently to achieve stated goals.
  7. Evidence of supervisory and project management experience.
  8. Extent of ability to build successful professional relationships with internal and external communities.
  9. Extent of ability to work collaboratively with all areas of the government, community colleges and other entities.
Job Requirements
  1. Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule subject to change based on the needs of the department.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  3. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
