Job Description Summary

The Director for Auxiliary Services and Event Management will be responsible for directing and coordinating the retail and/or auxiliary enterprises that support the educational interests of the College, including the book store, print shop, dining hall, and mail services. The Director will also provide leadership and professional expertise in event management, working with the President and other members of the campus community to collaboratively plan and manage high quality events and functions.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or a related field.
  2. Three years of work experience in facility management, business affairs, vendor management, events management or similar operational areas in higher education.
  3. Administrative experience in the management of the daily operations of a college or comparable organization.
  4. Minimum of three years’ supervisory experience with proven leadership capabilities.
  5. Experience in writing or producing informational material for the promotion of events.
Criteria

CRITERIA: The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed.   5. Substantial and progressively responsible experience in, and knowledge of planning, production and management of large, small, high profile, and less-formal events for diverse and distinguished guests, with the ability to formulate creative ideas, and to analyze, evaluate, and negotiate details reflective of a successful event
  6. Ability to listen carefully to understand, respond, and problem-solve effectively to address concerns and interests of campus constituents, guests, vendors, and others as needed
  7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as to serve as a key member of the Administrative and Financial Services team
  8. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Job Requirements
  1. Must be able to work Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; and after-hours when necessary. Work schedule is subject to change based on department needs.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  3. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
