Job Description Summary

Computer Graphics tutors work under the direct supervision of the Visual Communication Program (VisComm) Coordinator to provide students with specialized digital media assistance during the Program’s Open Labs.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 12-18 months related experience such as internships, teaching assistant or employment in visual communications or required coursework/certification in Computer Graphics.
  3. Successful completion of Art 1570 Introduction to Computer Graphics or equivalent coursework.

CRITERIA: The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process. Please ensure that your application and attached documents address the criteria listed below:

  1. Extent of ability to provide basic- to intermediate-level tutoring for Adobe Creative Suite software: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash.
  2. Extent of ability to control lab access and maintain attendance logs.
  3. Extent of demonstrated dependability, punctuality, and patience.
  4. Willingness to assume responsibility for software dongle keys, peripheral devices, and basic lab security.
  5. Extent of previous experience as a teaching assistant with diverse groups of individuals.
  6. Extent of demonstrated ability to provide computer graphics instruction to students in Standard English.
  7. Evidence of software mastery provided by the portfolio review.
Job Requirements
  1. Must be able to commit to the assigned weekly schedule not to exceed 18 hours per week. Work schedule subject to change based on department needs. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including some evening and weekend hours.
  2. Must be able to effectively communicate in spoken and written Standard English with students, faculty, and staff.
  3. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and proof that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.identity and proof that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
