Job Description Summary

Responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons in the pool area and keeping facility clean.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate, current American Red Cross CPR/FPR certificate.

*Copies of certificates must accompany application and can be attached to your online application or dropped off in the Human Resource Office, Kent Hall Room 103. Without these copies, the Human Resource office will be unable to qualify your application.

Criteria

CRITERIA: The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Other information and observations made during the interview process may be considered in the selection process. Please ensure that your application and attached documents address the criteria listed below:

  1. Satisfactorily pass/demonstrate water skills and CPR.
  2. Extent of experience as a lifeguard.
  3. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  4. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  5. Skilled in or potential for working effectively with a diverse, multi-ethnic clientele.
Job Requirements
  1. Applicant must be willing to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends & overtime if required.
  2. A lifeguard skills test will be administered to qualified applicants as a part of the recruitment process.
  3. Ablity to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  4. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.

A limited background investigation will be conducted prior to an offer of employment. A signed authorization for release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
